Welcome to the Division of Professional Regulation (DPR)
The mission of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation is to serve, safeguard, and promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public by ensuring that licensure qualifications and standards for professional practice are properly evaluated, applied, and enforced.
The Division regulates a variety of health care and occupational professionals. Some of these professions include:
Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacies, Physical Therapists, Dentists, and Veterinarians, as well as;
Detectives, Cosmetologists, Barbers, Engineers, Accountants, Architects, and many more.

New Report Highlights Improvements Under New DPR Leadership
Under new Acting Director of Professional Regulation Camile Lindsay’s leadership, we’re streamlining our processes and taking proactive steps to improve efficiencies for the review of professional licensure applications.

New IDFPR Variance for Licensing Fees
On October 27, 2023, IDFPR issued a variance to vary any rule that provides for an increased fee or late fee for an applicant where that fee has increased or a late fee has come into play during the pendency of the applicant’s application with the Division through no fault of the applicant.
Licensing Update for Healthcare Professionals
As part of their renewal process, licensees in 38 healthcare professions are now required to complete one hour of continuing education on recognizing implicit bias in healthcare. Learn more under IDFPR’s Administrative Code here.
