Division of Banking and Division of Financial Institutions Consumer Complaint
You can submit an online complaint to IDFPR’s Division of Banking and Division of Financial Institutions about a variety of financial institutions regulated by those divisions, including but not limited to:
- ATM
- Collection Agency
- Company that offers to help with your debt
- Credit Union
- Currency Exchange
- Digital Assets Business
- Money Lender
- Money Transmitter
- Mortgage Company
- Mortgage Loan Originator or Loan Officer
- Pawnbroker
- State Bank
- Student Loan Servicer
- Title Insurance Company or Agent
- Trust Company
The information you provide will permit IDFPR to investigate your complaint about companies and services that we regulate. Information about your complaint or inquiry (including your personally identifiable information (PII), like your financial account information) may be shared: with the entity that is the subject of your complaint; with third parties to get information relevant to your complaint; with other federal or state agencies or regulatory authorities for enforcement and statutory purposes and as otherwise permitted or required by law.
Submitting a complaint is voluntary. You are not required to submit a complaint or share any PII. Unless you indicate otherwise, IDFPR may attempt to mediate your complaint with the respondent.
It is important to remember that IDFPR does not act as your attorney. It also does not have the power to adjudicate private disputes. You may always consult with an attorney regarding your complaint.
Ways to File Your Complaint

Please also note that IDFPR only regulates state licensees. Certain institutions may be overseen primarily by federal regulators, who you may submit complaints to. Such regulators include, but are not limited to: the National Credit Union Association, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Federal Reserve, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
