Welcome From the Secretary
Welcome to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
At IDFPR, our mission is protecting consumers and promoting trust and reliability in professional and financial services in Illinois. Every day, we license, regulate, and provide oversight to more than 1.2 million professionals and thousands of financial institutions, ensuring that consumers can trust the services they rely on and that professionals have clear, equitable pathways to build and sustain their careers.
Our work is guided by our FY 2026–2027 Strategic Plan, which outlines our commitment to strengthening transparency, modernizing regulatory systems, enhancing operational excellence, and deepening engagement with the communities we serve. This plan provides a clear roadmap for advancing our mission thoughtfully, equitably, and with purpose.
We made meaningful progress in these priorities. To expand transparency and public trust, we launched The Hub, our new public transparency and engagement platform that provides real-time updates, data, and insights into our work, reflecting our belief that government should be open, accessible, and understandable to the people it serves.
We are also continuing our multi-year CORE modernization initiative, which is improving the licensing experience, streamlining regulatory processes, and strengthening digital services for residents and professionals across Illinois.
Our leadership has been recognized nationally and internationally. IDFPR was honored with the 2025 CLEAR Regulatory Excellence Award, one of the highest distinctions in regulatory practice. And Illinois now holds seats on several national and international regulatory boards and associations, contributing to the development of best practices, policy standards, and collaborative solutions across the profession. This participation ensures that the voices, experiences, and needs of Illinois residents and professionals help shape the future of regulatory policy.
While our responsibilities are broad, our focus is simple: people. Whether you are a new professional entering your field, a financial institution serving your community, an experienced licensee continuing in your practice, or a consumer seeking assistance: we are here to support you with clarity, accountability, and respect.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to continuing our work together to build a strong, fair, and trustworthy Illinois.
In service,
Mario Treto, Jr.
Secretary
