State of Illinois Takes Action on Medical Cannabis Dispensary Applicants
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) today announced the qualification of one applicant and disqualification of another seeking to register as medical cannabis dispensing organizations in Illinois.
After a review of the Medical Cannabis Dispensary Application of Health Central, LLC, the Division selected the application as qualified in Districts 9 and 11, and after a review of the Medical Cannabis Dispensary Application of IL WelMed, the Division issued a final Order of Administrative Disqualification in District 42 in connection with the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act 410 ILCS 130 and the selection process established in the Administrative Rules at 68 IAC 1290.
Under the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act, the State of Illinois requires medical cannabis dispensing organizations to be registered with the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to acquire medical cannabis from a registered cultivation center for the purpose of dispensing cannabis, paraphernalia, or related supplies and educational materials to registered qualifying patients.
Dispensary District 9 is comprised of Cass, Christian, Logan, Mason, Menard, Morgan and Sangamon counties. Dispensary District 11 is comprised of Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties. Dispensary District 42 is located in Hyde Park Township.
