Illinois Launches Online Licensure for Real Estate Brokerage Professionals
Continuation of the Rauner Administration’s Efforts in Modernizing State Government
SPRINGFIELD – Real Estate Brokerage professionals seeking to apply for a license or transfer their existing license in Illinois now have a faster method at their fingertips. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) recently unveiled online licensure for select real estate professionals through its Online Services Portal.
The Online Services Portal is available to Real Estate Managing Brokers, Real Estate Brokers, Leasing Agents and Real Estate Brokerage Firms (Corporations, LLCs, LLPs, Partnerships, and Sole Proprietors).
“Over the last year, our Division of Real Estate processed more than 9,300 license transfer applications,” said Bryan A. Schneider, IDFPR Secretary. “All of these required mailing of documents and payment, which could easily take up to four weeks to process. Through our new Online Services Portal, licensee transactions like these will be processed within days, not weeks, and available online 24/7.”
The Online Services Portal enables applicants to enter all required information electronically, including the attachment of supplemental electronic documents. Once submitted, applicants may monitor their application’s status online as it moves through IDFPR’s review process. The move to an online, paperless initial licensure is part of ongoing efforts under Governor Rauner’s leadership to modernize state services for the over 85,000 impacted real estate brokerage licensees in Illinois.
Division of Real Estate Director Kreg Allison added that, “Managing Brokers can now manage who they sponsor via IDFPR’s Online Services Portal and then easily verify license sponsorship, who is affiliated with a licensed real estate brokerage firm, via IDFPR’s improved License Lookup.”
Individuals seeking to apply for their initial Real Estate Brokerage license and transfer a license from one firm to another may do so by visiting IDFPR’s online initial application portal at: https://online-dfpr.micropact.com/.
Currently licensed Real Estate Brokers wishing to renew their license before the April 30th deadline may do so by visiting our license renewal page.
