Streamlined Nursing Licensure Verification Begins Today
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Verifications of Licensure for Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licenses will be completed through the National Council of State Board of Nursing’s Nursys system, beginning today. Nursys, a 24/7 nationwide database for verification of nurse licensure, discipline and practice privileges, will make licensure verification immediately available to the board of nursing where an individual is applying for licensure.
“As we look toward providing efficient, innovative licensure solutions, Nursys will be an excellent tool in serving our Illinois nursing population,” said Bryan Schneider, IDFPR Secretary. “Its real-time database will provide up-to-date information, while its online format will reduce mailing costs and potential paper fraud for the State of Illinois.”
Effective August 3rd, 2015, individuals needing verification of an Illinois RN or LPN license should visit the Nursys website at https://www.nursys.com/. Requests for Certification received by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation prior to August 3rd will be processed internally, with a paper certification mailed to the address listed in the request. Requests received by the Department after August 3rd will be returned to the requestor with instructions to use the Nursys website.
