State Board of Professional Engineers

Professional Engineers became regulated by the State of Illinois between 1945 and 1946. The Board is appointed by the Secretary and is composed of ten members, consisting of one public member and nine Professional Engineers licensed under the Professional Engineering Act. Each licensed member must have been licensed in Illinois as a Professional Engineer for at least ten years and have not been disciplined within those ten years. The Board is charged with advising the Secretary on matters related to professional competence, conduct, and examination and licensure requirements. Additionally, the Board reviews the education, examination and experience qualifications of PE applicants; conduct reviews of professional complaints submitted to the Department; and make recommendations to the IDFPR enforcement personnel if the complaint warrants disciplinary actions.
