Board of Licensing for Perfusionists

The Perfusionist Practice Act became effective January 1, 2000. A perfusionist is one who operates the extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or replace a person's cardiopulmonary, circulatory or respiratory function. The Board of Licensing of Perfusionists is composed of five persons appointed by the Secretary consisting of two perfusionists, one cardiothoracic surgeon, one licensed registered professional nurse certified by the association of Operating Room Nurses and one public member. The Board advises the Secretary in matters of qualifications and professional performance and conduct.
