On October 30, 2024, IDFPR launched CORE, a new online system for professionals to apply for licensure in Illinois.
New applications for Private Detective Licenses are now available in CORE.

Please allow 2-4 business days for your license to post in our systems and your license status to update. - NOTE: If an applicant misses the renewal window and the online portal does not allow you to renew after it concludes, you must reinstate their license by requesting a Reinstatement application from IDFPR.
Notices
- Effective September 2025, LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) licenses issued in the State of Illinois are now valid for three (3) years from the date of last issuance. This change extends the previous expiration date of your current licensure period. You can print a copy of your license reflecting the new expiration date by logging into your eLicense Online account.
